If your like me you may have been late to work because of your HTC Hero alarm not going off, basically my HTC Hero alarm would go off but not make any noise, to fix this go to your settings for the alarm then select alarm sound and go to the selection menu.
Whilst in the selection menu press the volume controls on the side and turn it up to the loudest.
